Frequently Asked Questions
I'm a new Mac user and don't know too much.
Will I feel out of place there?
All of us started with very little knowledge about the Mac.
By definition a user group is users helping other users and SLMUG
supports that spirit. Remember, the only dumb question is the one
you don't ask.
What are the benefits of membership?
Membership includes our monthly newsletter, a monthly CD packed
with freeware and shareware, access to all SLMUG meetings and events,
special discounts on hardware and software available to User Group
members only, a SLMUG .org email address, access to the SLMUG discussion
list, a free MacWorld pass ($45 value), and more.
When are the meetings?
On the first and third Thursday of the month, starting at 7:30 pm, unless
preempted by school closings, holidays or MacWorld Expo.
What do you do at the meetings?
The first Thursday is our general meeting and tends to be structured
with news, demo's or presentations, discussions, and a raffle. An informal
Board Meeting at a local eatery follows the general meeting and all
are welcome. The third Thursday is free form and is an ideal time to
get one on one help with any of your problems or get tutored on Mac
software. SLMUG has many experienced Mac users that are there to help.
Do I have to join at my first meeting?
No, you are welcome to visit our meetings twice before you are asked
to join.
What are the membership dues?
Dues are $36.00 per year for renewals or prorated at $3.00 per month
from the month you join through December. This membership also includes
everyone in your immediate family.
How do I join?
The best way is to attend a meeting, fill out a membership form and pay
your dues. If you can't do that, go to the JOIN page,
download a membership form in pdf format and mail it with your dues
to our P.O. Box.
What if I have other questions not covered here?
Send an email to info@SLMUG.org and you'll get a prompt reply.
